How Veneers Give You A Great Smile Quickly
Is your smile making you self-conscious? Whether you have chipped teeth, stains from medication, unusual wear, or want to make your teeth appear more even and straight, Veneers can quickly give you the bright, beautiful smile you want.
What are Veneers?
Veneers are thin shells that are bonded to your teeth to improve their appearance. They are made of material that can be colored to match your teeth, or you can choose veneers that are brighter, to match newly whitened teeth.
At the Center for Implant & General Dentistry, we offer both porcelain and ceramic veneers so you can choose the material that’s right for you. We mill our own ceramic veneers right here in our office.
How Do Veneers Work?
In order to apply veneers, your teeth will need to be reshaped. After thoroughly cleaning your teeth, a small amount of enamel is removed from the surface of each tooth to make room for the veneers. Your teeth may also need to be reshaped to ensure they are hidden behind the veneers.
If you opt for porcelain veneers, impressions will need to be made of your teeth. The impressions are then sent to a laboratory which will construct your veneers.
After reshaping, and prior to applying the veneers, your teeth will need to be etched. That gives the veneers are rough surface to bond to. A cement is applied to your teeth and activated with a light once your veneers are in place.
Once your veneers have bonded, your dentist will check the look and bite of your veneers to make sure everything looks perfect and fits properly. Finally, your teeth will be cleaned and polished to a beautiful finish.<
Although veneers are not a permanent restoration, you can expect them to last for several years. As a minimally invasive procedure, you’ll be able to quickly get the great smile you want.
How Quickly Can Veneers Be Done?
The good news is veneers are truly able to give you a great smile quickly. Just how quickly will depend on your choice of material.
For patients who choose porcelain veneers, at least two visits are required. During the first visit, we will prepare your teeth and make impressions to send to the lab. We’ll then need to wait for your custom porcelain veneers to be sent back to us from the laboratory.
On the second visit, we’ll be able to etch and bond your veneers to your teeth. You’ll walk out with a brand new smile.
If you want an even faster solution, you can choose to go with ceramic veneers that we make right here in our office. That means you’ll be able toinstantly get the great smile you’ve been waiting for.
Why Should I Choose Veneers?
Veneers are a quick solution to improve the appearance of your teeth. Your teeth will have a naturally beautiful appearance, and you can choose veneers that look whiter than your natural tooth color.
Your teeth won’t need to be reshaped as much for veneers as for more permanent and invasive restorations, like crowns. Plus, your gum tissue is generally able to accept porcelain veneers without any problems with tolerability.
